Swimming Pool in Kensington:
The occupants of this prestigious terraced house in Kensington found problems of humidity and condensation in the swimming pool area at the sub-basement level of the property.
Domfix Ltd was commissioned to solve the problems. After exhaustive investigation the cause was found to be a lack of insulation to the structural concrete slab forming the ceiling of the pool together with water penetration from undetermined external sources into the service ducts surrounding the pool. The water penetration amounted to 100 litres of water per day. Domfix solved the problems by thoroughly tanking the internal faces of the service ducts and by applying a sprayed insulation membrane to the underside of the concrete roof covering the pool.
In the process of carrying out these works the client employed the services of Anthony Ghibaldan to provide an architectural and interior design refurbishment of the entire pool area and the entrance vestibule leading to the pool.
The works are currently being carried out according to those designs and should be completed in around 2 – 3 months.
